They Came Across South Mountain is a love story about four generations of one family, free people of color, surviving the Holocaust of slavery and Jim Crow America. The book was written by Elayne Bond Hyman and designed and crafted in collaboration with Sarah Matthews. All 30 copies were printed and bound during the Winter months of 2023 - 2024. 

Block Printing techniques were used for the pouches, and the title page was letterpressed at Pyramid Atlantic on a Vandercook 4T.

Covers were sewn and hand-decorated. Variable edition of 30.
