X Factor 2 was printed and bound by hand by Sarah Matthews in 2025 using woodblocks on a Vandercook SP20 at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and wood type on a Vandercook 4T at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, Maryland. This artist book builds upon X Factor, a poignant woodblock print that captures the intertwined realities of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. Through layered imagery and text, X Factor 2 continues the reflection on resilience, loss, and collective awakening. Honoring the lives of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, whose faces serve as haunting reminders and urgent calls for empathy, justice, and social transformation.
